Charity of the Year

Islamic Relief UK Named Charity of the Year at the Third Sector Awards

Islamic Relief UK was awarded Charity of the Year at the Third Sector Awards in September 2022. The Third Sector Awards recognises the efforts of charities around the UK, from fundraising campaigns to marketing and communications work.

The award recognises the significant work of Islamic Relief, particularly in 2021, during which the charity experienced a record-breaking year raising over £38.6 million.

Despite the unprecedented impact of the pandemic and financial strains of the UK economy, Islamic Relief continues to support millions of people in struggling communities across the UK and the globe, continuing to alleviate poverty, empower communities, and respond to disasters.

Islamic Relief staff members receive the award at the Third Sector Awards ceremony.

As the pandemic impacted the ability to fundraise in person, Islamic Relief nimbly adapted and raised ground-breaking figures during the key month of Ramadan through improved digital efforts across all channels, raising £17.6 million in 2021 alone.

We are thoroughly honoured to win this award and it's a huge testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams. Whilst it’s been a challenging couple of years during the pandemic, our teams have pulled together and ensured our work reaches more people than ever. This award is dedicated to every single member of the Islamic Relief family.

Tufail Hussain, Director of Islamic Relief UK

Our transformative work in the UK

Here at Islamic Relief, we’re partnered with a range of local community-based and larger national organisations to help support and empower disadvantaged individuals and communities across the country.

We also support emergency response initiatives across the UK so when emergencies hit, we’re able to help communities in need. And as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, we also support a number of organisations offering support to people affected by Covid and the economic impact of the virus.

In an increasingly difficult climate, we’re striving to support as many people as possible across England, Wales and Scotland. Our aim is to help empower people across the country through these critical partnerships. Find out more about how we’re helping vulnerable families in the UK here.
