Middle East Crisis

– Egypt: 10.7 million people who cannot meet their food needs.

– Iraq : 1 in 5 people lives in chronic poverty

– Jordan: Has 1.7 million refugees – the largest number of refugees in the region

– Palestine: 1 in 10 children have stunted growth due to malnutrition, and infant mortality is 3 and a half times higher   than the UK

– Yemen: 31% of the population do not have access to improved water sources

– Libya: In 2011, 840,000 people became refugees after the revolution broke out.

– Lebanon: An estimated 320,500 Syrians refugees have fled to the country.

– Syria: Estimated 2.5 million people are displaced within the country and over 1 million people have fled to neighbouring countries

Despite the ongoing difficulties and challenges, Islamic Relief continues to work across the Middle East, responding to the crises as well as longer-term developmental work. We have established offices in Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon and are actively working inside Syria.

The situation is changing on a daily basis but with your generous help; Islamic Relief will be able to support the people of the Middle East region in meeting their basic needs.
