A spokesperson for Islamic Relief UK said:
“Maulana Tariq Jamil is a renowned religious scholar and public speaker with a global following amongst Muslims. As one of the world’s most influential Muslims, he has used his platform to promote peace, tolerance, moderation, love and respect in addition to introspection, self-correction, social consciousness and avoidance of violence.
“Given his profile and status amongst Muslim communities, our tour around the UK is being used to promote the peaceful message of Islam, to raise awareness of the plight of children in Palestine and support them in their hour of need.
“Across the Palestinian Territories, thousands of children are suffering from the effects of poverty and conflict. Many struggle to access essential medical care and regular meals, others simply long for a safe place to play and learn. There are still many more vulnerable children and families who desperately need help. This is why this tour is so important.
“As a Muslim faith-based humanitarian and development organisation, Islamic Relief UK has a responsibility to serve as a broad, positive, and influential force among all segments of our diverse communities. We are committed to striving for inclusivity among all Muslims and other faith groups in accordance with the values of Islam and our mission and vision.”
