10 amazing deeds for the best 10 days of the year

The sacred month of Dhul Hijjah is upon us, and that includes one of the holiest periods in the entire year – the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah. We’ve put together ‘a deed a day list’ that you can use across the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah to make it easier for you to reap the rewards of these precious days.

In a famous hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”

Hadith | Bukhari

These days are even better than the days of Ramadan! For those of us who feel like we didn’t strive as much as we wanted to this past Ramadan, Allah (SWT) has given us another opportunity to earn an incredible reward like no other! The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah also include the Day of ‘Arafah which holds more rewards than any other day of the year.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

“Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.”

Hadith | Muslim

There’s so much opportunity for us to earn rewards during this precious time, but it can be an overwhelming task if you want to make an extra special effort for a stretch of time.

Each day, pick one deed you want to focus on, make a sincere intention to do it for the sake of Allah (SWT) and do it with as much Ihsaan (excellence) as possible. It takes the pressure off of trying to cram all the good deeds you can think of into one day – preventing you from running out of steam a couple of days in!
