Take on the Waves of Positivity Fasted Family Walk!

We’re back again this year for Waves of Positivity fasted 5k family walk where we will be fundraising to provide Eid Gifts for children in Turkiye and Syria!

With entertainment and a take home iftar provided, this challenge is a great way to get your family outdoors this Ramadan.

This is the perfect challenge for to do with family, friends or alone so what are you waiting for?

In a Prophetic narration, it is mentioned: Give gifts to one another, you will love each other. (al-Adab al-Mufrad).

Islamic Relief brings donors and supporters the ability to share the joys of celebration, and festivity on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr with children in countries across the world. This programme is unique in combining charitable giving with gift-giving.

There is a widespread practice to spend more in aiding the poor to enable them also to enjoy and celebrate Eid. One such practice is the exchanging and giving of Eid gifts, also known as Eidi or Eidiya, in particular to children. Eid gifts generally include new clothing, shoes, toys, chocolates and school equipment.

This challenge will be fundraising to provide Eid Gifts to children in Turkiye and Syria.

Türkiye-Syria Earthquake: More than 51,000 people have been confirmed dead

According to latest reports, a combined total of more than 51,000 people have already been confirmed dead across both Türkiye and Syria, and is continuing to rise.

In war-torn North West Syria, a lack of infrastructure due to more than a decade of protracted conflict has left the affected population even more vulnerable. Millions of internally displaced Syrians are living in camps, and those hit hard by the crisis are entirely reliant on international aid to assist with this emergency. The situation on the ground is dire and moments of joy have been few and far between for young children.

Fundraising Ideas

Smarties: Buy 20 tubes of Smarties and give them to 20 of your friends. Your one condition? Once they’ve enjoyed the Smarties, they return the tubes back to you filled with as many £1 coins as they can collect in a week. You’d be surprised how much you can raise using this tactic!

Bake Sale: A true classic. How about adding a theme to your fundraiser depending on the cause you’re raising for? E.g. a blue theme if you’re fundraising to provide clean water. Or you could really go for it, sell other homemade delights alongside your delicious baked goods like milkshakes, smoothies or classic desserts (trifle, cake & custard etc.).

Car Wash: Probably the most fun thing you could do, and all you need is water, a bucket, a sponge and some car shampoo. You could do this at your school or workplace, or you could even ask a local business to let you use their grounds/car park. Try make it more interesting by doing it in fancy dress and get your family and friends in on all the fun!
