#EachForEqual – Demanding gender justice

Imagine being more likely to go hungry, being unable to read and write and even denied the right to earn an income, just for being a woman?

Well, we don’t need to imagine…

Because this is the reality for millions of women and girls across the globe.

Yes, just by being a woman or a girl, you have poorer access to food, healthcare, education and paid work…For women like Juli from India, who was left homeless and struggling to survive, this is their reality.

In fact, women such as Juli not only make up a staggering 60% of people suffering from chronic hunger… Yup, they’re also more likely to die from natural disasters than their male counterparts too.

Shocking, huh? Well, here at Islamic Relief we couldn’t agree more!

That’s why, this International Women’s Day (8^th March), we’re standing in solidarity with thousands of women and girls worldwide. This year’s theme is #EachForEqual – because women need equal respect, equal access to resource and equality in law, within our communities and quite frankly: in all areas of society.

We’re calling for equality and gender justice.
