Dare to cycle from the Irish to the North Sea!

The UK’s most popular challenge cycle route, the C2C is often thought to stand for ‘Coast to Coast’, but the name is actually short for ‘Sea to Sea’.

The iconic route travels 137 miles between the Irish Sea and the North Sea, from Cumbria to Tyneside, passing through the northern Lake District before climbing the Pennines and descending to the railway paths of County Durham.

Take on this 2 day challenge and dip your wheels in both seas!

The Cause: Provide Children Suffering with Cancer in Gaza an Education

Child cancer patients already have all the things that are part of a normal childhood taken from them by the disease, but one thing that should remain accessible is their education.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of resources in Gaza, there is little specialist support for children with health issues. There is a lack of classroom and virtual resources that meet cancer-patient students’ needs, a lack of recreational activities appropriate for cancer-patient’s and a lack of awareness of the importance of keeping children in education, despite their health status.

“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the hereafter” (Muslim)

Since 1997 Islamic Relief has invested almost £109 million in humanitarian and development programmes to support Palestinian people.

Our projects include food distributionmedical relief and orphan sponsorship, in addition to establishing education centres, care programmes for traumatised children and a school for deaf people.

By signing up to this challenge, the funds you raise will help provide a sense of normal for children suffering from cancer in Gaza. Sign up now and help save lives.

Fundraising Ideas

Smarties: Buy 20 tubes of Smarties and give them to 20 of your friends. Your one condition? Once they’ve enjoyed the Smarties, they return the tubes back to you filled with as many £1 coins as they can collect in a week. You’d be surprised how much you can raise using this tactic!

Bake Sale: A true classic. How about adding a theme to your fundraiser depending on the cause you’re raising for? E.g. a blue theme if you’re fundraising to provide clean water. Or you could really go for it, sell other homemade delights alongside your delicious baked goods like milkshakes, smoothies or classic desserts (trifle, cake & custard etc.).

Car Wash: Probably the most fun thing you could do, and all you need is water, a bucket, a sponge and some car shampoo. You could do this at your school or workplace, or you could even ask a local business to let you use their grounds/car park. Try make it more interesting by doing it in fancy dress and get your family and friends in on all the fun!
