Handicraft Training: Supporting enterprising women
The artisanal handicrafts you encounter on holidays are often made by hand. They are often a reflection of local customs and cultures and many tourists and business purchase these from individuals and local cooperatives.
Manufacturing handicrafts enables individuals to generate an income and this is something we support in many countries. We work with local cooperatives, vulnerable families, and women’s enterprises to help bring their handicrafts to market.
This enables them to build a source of income and break out of the cycle of poverty and critically build a stable future.
Funding futures and transforming lives
At Islamic Relief, we don’t believe in simply distributing aid to communities in need. We instead fund futures. We aim to give the poorest and most vulnerable people across the world a chance to transform their lives for the better.
