10 Essential du’a for Ramadan

SubhanAllah, Ramadan is passing quickly and we’re witnessing the blessed last ten nights.

On these nights in particular, Allah (SWT) offers us a great opportunity to reach out to Him and earn His pleasure and forgiveness by offering du’a.After all, Allah (SWT) calls upon us to reach out to Him in sincerity and honesty:

Verily your Lord is Generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication) He becomes shy to return them empty. (Tirmidhi)

So, with that in mind, we’re here to help to make sure you have all you need to make du’a to Allah (SWT).

1. Du’a for iftar

Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa älayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance

2. Du’a for suhoor

Wa bisawmi ghadin nawaytu min shahri Ramadan I intend to keep the fast tomorrow in the month of Ramadan

3. Du’a for forgiveness

Rabbana la tuakhidh'na in nasina aw akh ta'na "Our Lord! Take us not to task if we forget or fall into error." (2:286)

4. Du’a for guidance

Ya Muqalib al Qulüb thabit qalbi "alà Deenik "O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion. (Tirmidhi)

5. Du’a for ease

Rabbanä walà tuhammil'na ma la tagata lana bihi wa fu anna :wagh'fir lana war hamna anta mawlana fan-sur'nä alal qawmil kafirin "Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear, grant us forgiveness and have mercy on Us. You are our Protector. Help us against those who deny the truth." (2:286)

6. Du’a for anxiety

Allahumma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn, wa as-lih li sha'ni kul-lahu, la illaha il-la anta "O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshiped except You. (Abu Dawud)

7. Du’a for illness

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay 'Un fil ardhi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-sami'ul aleem "In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm.in the earth or in heaven, and He is All-Hearing and All-Knowing." (Sunan Abu Dawud)

8. Du’a for protection

Rabbanà àtina fi-dun'ya hasanatan wafil akhirati hasanatan wagina adhaban-nar "Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the life to come and keep Us -Safe from the torment of the Fire" (2:201)

9. Du’a for purification

Rabbanà fagh'fir lanà dhunübana wakaffir "'anna sayyiätina watawaffanä ma'al-abrar "Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us.to die with the righteous." (3:193)

10. Du’a when in need

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin fagir "Our Lord, so forgive Us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous. " (3:193)

SubhanAllah, there are so many blessings in making honest open du’a to Allah (SWT). So don’t miss out during these last ten nights as we await Laylatul Qadr.

And when My servants ask you, O Muhammad, concerning Me — indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of every supplicant when he calls upon Me. (Qur’an, 2:186)
