Nerlande Elyse, 29, Dumoulin Sheila, 22 and Joseph Jerry, 20 are friends that have lived in the same neighbourhood for over four years.
Before the earthquake, “Life was normal, we worked hard hoping to expand our shoe business” said Nerlande. “During the earthquake we were all together, since then we have helped each other but life is increasingly getting harder” added Joseph.
However, Nerlande is thankful for Islamic Relief’s assistance, “I was luckily enough to work for Islamic Relief in their rubble clearance programme. I gave this money to my husband who has been able to get our shoe business re-stared. Dumoulin also added “They have been clearing rubble on the street which allows her children to be able to play football again”.
The three of them concluded by saying, “We thank you for this assistance but money is limited and we need more assistance in finding jobs.”
