A group of Muslim musicians have recorded a song for Haiti, which was launched on Monday.
The diverse group of Muslim rappers, Hip Hop artists and poets came together a stone’s throw from the London Eye to record a track for the victims of Haiti.
The powerful lyrics were written by the various artists moments before the recording took place – some sat on the stairs others sat on the floor – all produced heart felt lines that they hope will move people to buy the song.
“This was an impromptu coming together of artists who wanted to show their support for the victims of Haiti and provide practical help for those still suffering,” said Sara Petrai, who filmed the video.
The money raised will go to Islamic Relief, one of the first aid agencies to set up an organized camp on the ground for internally displaced people.
Zaid Al-Rawni an aid worker for Islamic relief who has just returned from Haiti spoke of his experience in getting aid to Haiti. “We never go out giving aid behind the gun of soldiers" he said. "The situation wasn’t safe when we first arrived - but we decided to leave the safety of the UN compound to give aid directly to the people and set-up the first camp" he said.
