Islamic Relief offers schools, colleges, universities and community groups, the opportunity to book one of our trained speakers to present on a range of international development and global citizenship issues.
Our Aim
It is important that educational establishments provide opportunities for pupils to learn about the global context of their local lives, to critically examine their own values and attitudes and to gain the skills and confidence to become better citizens.
Our speakers’ service aims to meet the following objectives:
-
To raise awareness of the root causes of poverty
-
To promote an understanding of the humanitarian message of Islam in the context of international development
-
To assist teachers in the delivery of curriculum objectives for Citizenship, RE and PSHE, at Key Stages 1 to 4
What we offer
We offer assemblies and talks on a range of topics, including:
Our assemblies can be tailored to suit audiences from Key Stage 1 to 4. Our sessions typically last between 20 and 30 minutes, and can fit neatly into your assembly schedule.
We are currently developing capacity to be able to respond positively to the increasing number of requests for a visit from an Islamic Relief speaker. At present however, capacity is very limited and we can only offer the service in London, the South East and the Midlands. Please do contact us with your request even if you reside in another area of the country, and we will endeavour to accommodate you.
‘I just want to say a huge ‘thank you’ for all your hard work and efforts, giving of your time and being so friendly, honest and engaging today. I certainly got a lot out of our afternoon and I know that the boys did. It was the first time our school had visitors like yourselves. For many of the boys it would have been the first time they had either a Priest or a Muslim!’

‘I would like to express my gratitude for your participation in the Year 12 Moral Issues Conference. The students really enjoyed your input and, in most cases, have begun to assess their own opinions on immigration in the light of the experience that they had...’

Schools Workshops
We also offer schools workshops. These interactive sessions offer a great way for students to explore a topic in greater depth. Our sessions typically last between 45 minutes to an hour, and are subject to speaker availability.
