An excellent opportunity has arisen in Islamic Relief for an experienced and professional individual to join our UK HR team as Volunteer Coordinator. The post holder will be responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of IRUK’s Volunteer Engagement Strategy. This will include direct engagement with volunteers on a national level such as to support the recruitment, coordination, retention and development of volunteers (and Interns) for IRUK with the aim of helping them to gain experience in their field of work as well as to ensure that there is a pool of reliable and experienced volunteer to support IR’s activities – this will be done in collaboration with our Community Fundraising and Volunteering (CFV) team.

The Successful Candidate must have:

  • Qualified to a degree level (preferably in HR/management related subject) or equivalent experience in volunteer management.
  • Extensive project management experience
  • Knowledge and ability to set up and manage effective data collection and monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of legislation related to volunteers
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel to different locations and regions within UK
  • Willingness to work flexible hours on an occasional basis

The CFV Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a sustainable community fundraising & volunteering strategy for his/her region in order to raise funds and increase awareness & participation amongst volunteers and supporters. The post holder will be leading the regional team and working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising initiatives and maximise income generation opportunities.

The Successful Candidate must have:

  • Proven fundraising and management skills and experience.
  • Substantial experience of setting, managing and delivering on challenging targets.
  • Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Community Fundraising models.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to work to a high standard and with an eye for detail, working to strict deadlines, and managing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including diplomacy, tact and listening skills.
  • Experience of managing and leading a large volunteer network.

Mosque Relations Officer (L&S)

We are looking for self motivated, resourceful and creative individuals to join our dynamic fundraising team as Mosque Relations Officer. The post holders will be responsible for establishing, developing and managing a network of sustainable relationships with mosques and with such parties or groups which influence mosques within agreed regions. The Mosque Relations Officers will work closely with local mosques and other community organisations and leaders to raise funds and awareness within communities.

The Successful Candidate must have:

  • Previous experience of community engagement role (particularly with mosques).
  • Experience of engaging and working with different levels of management within mosques, Islamic Centres and other Islamic Organisations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the local region and community and competent in at least one other community language (like Urdu, Bengali, Arabic)
  • IT literate with ability to use MS packages, particularly Word and Powerpoint.
  • Strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems etc
