Disasters Emergency Committee - Chief Executive

This is a unique leadership role for an experienced humanitarian who can galvanise the UK’s major aid agencies, broadcasters and public when a major overseas disaster strikes.

Through your leadership of a small Secretariat team, and by enhancing and expanding an extraordinary range of partnerships, you will match and improve on our performance in the last two years which saw the DEC raise £250m for Haiti, Pakistan and East Africa. Supporting a board comprised of the Chief Executives of the major UK aid agencies and independent experts you will help shape and agree our strategic objectives. You must ensure the money we raise is spent efficiently and effectively and also transparently and accountably. And the DEC must continue to use its unique position to enhance learning within the membership as well as sharing this across the wider humanitarian sector. You must be able to represent the DEC and its membership at the highest levels across the sector, to governments and through the media.

This is a unique vacancy, and you would need to be able to react quickly to emergencies in order to galvanise the DEC team and its supporters.

You will have:

Experience of leading complex organisations and managing senior staff

Knowledge/experience the international aid sector

Understanding of issues relating to transparency and accountability in NGOs/INGOs and understanding of government particularly DfID

Knowledge and understanding of British broadcasting and media

Experience of building strong relationships within a complex multi-stakeholder environment

You must be a highly energetic and charismatic leader

Digital Content Editor
Contract: Permanent
Base Location: London
Salary £17,408 (plus £3,000 London weighting - Grade and pay pending review)

Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is looking to recruit a highly organised, creative and innovative person to be a Digital Content Editor to generate, edit and publish content on multiple digital channels including, the Islamic Relief website and social media platforms.

Reporting to the Digital Manager the Digital Content Editor will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a dedicated Islamic Relief blog site as well as for building relationships with supporters on Islamic Relief’s social media channels.

In order to perform the duties the post holder should have experience of creating digital content with proven knowledge of popular social media platforms and content management systems.

The person must also be a good team player as well as being willing to work outside normal office hours particularly during emergency campaigns.

Multimedia Artist
Contract: Permanent
Base Location: London
Salary £17,408 (plus £3,000 London weighting - Grade and pay pending review)

Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is looking to recruit a creative person and with a strong technical background in multimedia to be a Multimedia Artist to deliver high quality, innovative and expressive media that reflect IR’s progressive work on a national and international level

Reporting to the Marketing Campaigns Manager the Multimedia Artist will be responsible for all aspects of media production ranging from video, audio, still images, event production, and handling specialist equipment.

In order to perform the duties the post holder should have depth working knowledge of video production software; Avid, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Sound Forge, and Final draft. Ability to conceptualize, write and direct stories for videos.

The person must also be a good team player as well as being willingness to travel for work and work outside normal office hours.
