Last year during the months of July and August, heavy rains caused the worst ever
floods in the history of Pakistan. More than 20 million people were displaced, with
many forced to live under the open sky. The Mosques in the UK played a significant
role in helping the flood affected people by donating more than a quarter of a million
pounds towards Islamic Relief’s Pakistan Floods Appeal.
A village by the name of Basti Ibrahim Wala in the district of Muzaffar Ghar (Punjab)
was chosen to be reconstructed with the donations received from the Mosques. A delegation
of scholars from different schools of thought in the UK visited the village with
Islamic Relief to meet the beneficiaries and see the work commence. The delegation
consisted of:
-
Qari Muhammad Ismail (Imam of Central Mosque Birmingham, Secretary
General Jamait Ulma Islam, UK )
-
Allama Rasool Bukhsh Saeedi (a prominent scholar of Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat,
Chairman Faizan e Rasool Institute Birmingham)
-
Sheikh Shoaib Ahmad Mirpuri (Secretary General Jamiat e Ahl Hadith
UK).
Qari Mohammad Ismail
"I was impressed by the scale of the operations at Islamic Relief on my visit to
one of their many projects in Pakistan, which left me humbled with a sense of great
admiration for all the hard work and complexities involved in the management of
delivering and administering such effective and invaluable projects. As a long standing
advocate of Islamic Relief and their activities, I am very pleased to be an ambassador
for Islamic Relief and am excited at their growth, helping to alleviate the suffering
of less fortunate individuals than ever before and always ready to answer their
call."
Allama Rasool Bukhsh Saeedi
"My visit to Pakistan with Islamic Relief was an eye opener, and I learned a great
deal about their work in the field. I am so proud of my relationship with Islamic
Relief, and I intend, insha’Allah, to work as an ambassador for Islamic Relief to
help generate more funds for their many excellent projects around the world. After
meeting the beneficiaries, volunteers and IR staff in the field I believe that your
100 percent donations reaching the victims."
Sheikh Shoaib Ahmad Mirpuri
"We are thankful to Islamic Relief that they took the time to visit our mosque
after the floods hit Pakistan last year. Islamic Relief approached us after the
floods last year for our support, we were more than willing to help and support
the great work Islamic Relief do. We urge our Muslims brothers and sisters to support
Islamic Relief in the excellent work that they do, they not only work in relief
work but work in long term development. After media interest dies down in disaster
stricken areas, Islamic Relief stay to build communities. I am proud that I was
able to visit and see for myself the work that Islamic Relief do."
