Last year, the world was horrified to see shocking scenes of hunger and distress in Somalia, as famine ravaged East Africa.
Children are often the hardest hit when the food runs out. They are vulnerable, but they are fighters - they just need someone to care for them.
Islamic Relief was there immediately, setting up health clinics and treating malnourished children under the age of 5.
We also treated pregnant and breastfeeding women, because their nutrition and health will impact on children around them.
We provided high-protein nut paste, corn soya beans and vitamins to bring children and mothers back to health - without this, many would not have survived the drought.
Alhamdulillah, the UK Government will match donations we receive during Ramadan, pound for pound, up to a total of £5 million.
That means that all donations to our Food, Water, Global Emergency and Livelihoods projects, and all zakat and sadaqah, will be doubled - so your money will go twice as far this Ramadan!
Together, we can feed twice as many children and mothers all over the world.
