Anwar Khan is a nine-year old boy, an orphan, he has been disabled since birth so is very sick…oh, and he’s also mute, which means that he can’t talk! That sounds like a difficult life in itself but the story’s not finished yet, not by a long shot, for he has also been forced from his home because of the current troubles in Pakistan’s NWFP.
Living In a Refugee CampHe is currently living in the Sheikh Shezaad camp with his mother, 2 brothers, and his younger sister Fatima who is 7. He came from Mingora, in Swat, and his family was staying with Anwar's grandfather, who was a farmer. They now have no idea whether his grandfather is alive or dead.
Nothing but the Clothes on His BackThe family is very concerned and are constantly crying; hardly eating or sleeping. Due to having to have left very quickly and also because the children were unable to lift much, the family has no clothes other than what they are wearing.
