Islamic Relief has been working in Mali since 1997, and began developing child friendly villages in 2004; these are integrated projects aiming to provide essential services such as education (provision of schools), health (building clinics and water wells) and livelihoods (provision of seeds and equipment). To date, over 15,000 people have benefitted from this project
Tenin Traore lives with 15 family members, including her children and grandchildren in the village of Djena. She has witnessed the fruits of Islamic Relief’s work, now enjoyed by her grandchildren.
“Without Islamic Relief’s intervention, I don’t know what we would have become; the maternity centre built is a Godsend for the women of Diena” said Tenin.
“We now have access to clean water thanks to the well dug by Islamic Relief only 15 metres from my home and also in the primary school; the education is of good quality.
May God grant for Islamic Relief and its donors, a long life full of success, prosperity and happiness!”
You can help build more communities that will support thousands of children like Tenin’s grandchildren, providing them the opportunities that Tenin had only dreamed of.
