The work of a charity, especially after an emergency, can be extraordinarily complex.
This video breaks down this work using a real life case study – the aftermath of
the earthquake in Kashmir. It shows the work that Islamic Relief did to rebuild
lives and communities after the disaster struck. The video would be suitable for
use with children aged 11 and above, and can be used as part of R.E and Citizenship
courses. |

This music video (nasheed in Arabic) is about a young girl dreaming about her mother.
We often don’t realise just how much our parents, especially our mothers, do for
us. This video tells such a story. This video would be useful to use from upper
KS2 onwards, and when perhaps teaching children about charity, and about the life
that some people perhaps wish they had, but don't. |

This is a television programme that Islamic Relief, along with Christian Aid, organised
last year and which went out on the Islam Channel. We were very lucky to have a
government minister, Shahid Malik MP, attend too. The aim of the programme was to
highlight the vital importance of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) not just
to one group of people, but to everyone. In some way, we are all affected by at
least one of the issues highlighted in the MDGs. This television programme could
be used from higher KS3 onwards, perhaps in excerpts, to show why these issues are
so important. |
