Islamic Relief also works with people from all walks of life in raising awareness of the root causes of poverty and then exploring what each of us can do as a concerned global citizen and neighbour to one another. This is development education.

Jigsaw 1-8

A suggestion is for the children to put the jigsaws together; after this they could be encouraged to think about where the photo is, what is happening, and also why it is important.  This could form the basis of a short class discussion on each jigsaw.

     
 
     

Higher Level - Case Studies

Charity Work is about real people and real lives. We often give money to charity to help people but how much do we really know about how these people live and how they feel? Islamic Relief has compiled nine case studies based upon the lives of young people around the world. They tell the story of these young people, sometimes in their own words, about their daily struggles to achieve a better life for themselves and their families.

One way in which these games could be used is to give school children the front pages and photos of four of the case studies.  The children would then read the case studies and put the right photo to the right case study.  When they have finished, the other two pages can be given to them which would tell them more about the country where the case study is based.
