Support for Waleed

Baqa’a refugee camp was one of six ‘emergency’ camps established in 1968 for Palestinian
refugees that had fled from West Bank and Gaza in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. However,
rather than being a temporary emergency measure, generations have lived in the camps,
which now resembles a town, rather than a makeshift camp and houses over 100,000
people.
Islamic Relief currently sponsors 400 orphans in Jordan, all of which live in the
long established Baqa’a camp. For many families, such as Waleed’s, the sponsorship
is the only means of income for the entire family, thus not only support for the
orphan.
