Helping those in need is at the heart of what it means to be a Muslim - and it is out of this imperative that Islamic Relief was founded in 1985.  It was a mission to change the world by helping people out of poverty, one person at a time.

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

Caring for one's neighbour

"He who goes to bed on a full stomach whilst his neighbour goes hungry is not one of us."

The message in the above quote from the Prophet Muhammad is clear: If a Muslim ignores the need to help a neighbour in whatever way possible, s/he is not a proper believer.

Islamic Relief helps everyone; not only Muslims

Muslims must help those in need without discrimination. After all, Prophet Muhammad didn't specify that the hungry person to be helped had to be a Muslim. He taught that people must be helped regardless of their race, colour, nationality, or beliefs.
