700,000 children die from measles every year, due to a lack of immunisation. Living in unhygienic conditions with little food and no clean water, millions of people are prone to malnutrition and ill health
Islamic Relief's work in health and nutrition includes:
- Mother and child health care programmes
- Construction and rehabilitation of medical clinics
- Distribution of medical equipment and ambulances to hospitals
- Farming programmes to improve agriculture and food security
- School food for malnourished children
- Immunisation and health check-ups

Case Study: Niger Food CrisisDuring the food crisis in 2005, Islamic Relief established a health and the rapeutic feeding
centre in Tillaberi region to provide health and nutritional support to thousands of children suffering from severe malnutrition.
Now that the crisis is over the centre also offers medical care for children suffering from a range of health problems. |
