| 9 year old orphan Eleni Woldesemayat lives with her mother and brothers in Addis Ketema Sub City in Ethiopia. She is a beneficiary of Islamic Relief’s Orphans Sponsorship Programme- which aims to ensure the basic needs of orphans are met through one-to-one sponsorship.
Eleni attends the Selam Berr School, her mother does not work and Eleni usually helps with the housework after school. Eleni’s brothers earn money when they are able to find employment.
Life has improved a great deal for the family since receiving sponsorship. Eleni also received new clothes for the Eid holiday through the programme. She is grateful to Islamic Relief for its support and is very happy to receive the clothes. She says: “When I grow up, I want to be a doctor and help Islamic Relief and also support orphans.”
