1 billion children around the world are forced to live in poverty; with 24,000 dying every day. 

Children represent the hope and future of every society; however the future of many children and their countries are at risk. Due to a lack of opportunity, children can suffer abuse, exploitation and neglect, as they and their families struggle desperately to survive.

Islamic Relief believes that all children deserve a chance to hope for a bright future and the opportunity to fulfil their dreams.

Thanks to your generous support, Islamic Relief has been assisting orphans since 1986, and works tirelessly to reduce child poverty through integrated programmes that take care of children’s basic needs including; a safe and hospitable place to live, the chance to enjoy a nutritious diet, access to healthcare and medicine, the opportunity to attend school and gain an education.

Islamic Relief also provides jobs training, which creates hope, and a possibility for children to break free from the shackles of poverty and help children create a better future for themselves and their communities.

Building Child Friendly Communities

Many communities in Pakistan and Bangladesh are deprived of even the most basic of necessities and economic opportunities, which severely impacts the lives of local children.

Islamic Relief wants to empower these communities to build a safe and supportive environment for children to develop a better future for themselves. This will be achieved by:

• Providing poultry for people to start farms, agricultural packs (seeds, fertilisers, tools, pesticides) and also the appropriate training needed to help people to make the most of the opportunity
• Providing mobile health clinics in different locations; distributing basic medicine and installing safe drinking water within communities.
• Supporting schools by establishing science labs, safe playing areas and libraries.
• Developing community forums to deal with social issues and assistance to create a ‘child friendly’ environment
