Take on a challenge and bring a smile

The stats are scary, the stories are harrowing and the need is great. One in eight people in the world do not have access to safe water. Many women and children in rural parts of the world walk mile upon mile carrying backbreaking loads of dirty water. Sometimes the load they carry is a killer load, as the disease-infested water kills babies and little ones.

Many of those who have taken on the challenges have literally saved thousands of lives. The 2008 Everest team raised enough money for Islamic Relief to dig wells in rural villages in Africa. These wells were at the heart of the village, which meant girls could concentrate on their education, mothers could concentrate on looking after their families, and the number of children dying from dirty water plummeted.

When you take on a challenge you’ll be saving lives, helping mothers in Africa, widows in Afghanistan, young boys in Gaza and vulnerable people all over the world. You’ll be bringing smiles where once there were none.
