- Population: 4.1 million

- There are 1 million landmines in Bosnia
Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Per capita income decreased 50% since the war and unemployment is endemic. While the reconstruction of homes, schools and infrastructure has begun, people's lives remain shattered by the loss of livelihoods and ongoing displacement. Bosnia's main problems are high unemployment as well as an acute housing shortage.
Islamic Relief in Bosnia
Islamic Relief has helped hundreds of families rebuild their homes, particularly single parent households lead by women.
To help returnees rebuild their livelihoods, Islamic Relief established a micro credit program, providing loans to encourage small business.
Islamic Relief's work in Bosnia is currently focused on orphan support, housing reconstruction, and business loans.
