Parts of coastal Bangladesh were hit by Cyclone Aila, killing at least 240 and injuring over 6,500 on 25th May 2009. A million more have become homeless, and urgently need shelter and clean water.
Contaminated Water
Due to contaminated water, the risk of disease is very high. This could mean many more deaths in the coming weeks from preventable causes – especially for vulnerable children. We must help, but we need your help to do so.
Islamic Relief Is There!
Islamic Relief has been working in Bangladesh since 1991. It has been helping over 85,000 people with its current projects alone; including orphan sponsorship, mother and child healthcare, vocational training, and water and sanitation programs.
In the current disaster, Islamic Relief’s workers have been on the ground from day one. They have been providing emergency aid to the survivors, all of whom urgently need clean water, sanitation, food, shelter, clothes, and medication.
Islamic Relief’s Bangladesh Appeal
Islamic Relief has launched this appeal to raise the funds it needs to help. To provide the emergency relief that people in the affected areas desperately need.
“I urge the public to come forward to the aid of the victims of this disaster in Bangladesh through Islamic Relief. I have seen Islamic Relief in action first hand and they’re always the first to respond to the plight of the people” (Mohammed Ashraful, Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team)
